Kayla Malec Gains Massive Support Following Domestic Assault Case Announcement on TikTok

This week, influencer Kayla Malec received widespread support online after her ex-boyfriend, Evan Johnson, pleaded guilty to charges related to domestic assault. With a significant following of 16.6 million on TikTok and nearly 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube, Malec has been open about her abusive relationship with Johnson, which she detailed in emotional videos shared in April. Malec uploaded a series of heartfelt clips, sharing the trauma she experienced during their nine-month relationship. Many viewers responded with empathy, appreciating her bravery in discussing such a painful topic.

However, the situation escalated as some of her followers began spreading misinformation and targeting another creator allegedly connected to Johnson. On April 7, Johnson faced charges of domestic assault in Sumner County, Tennessee. Following the court proceedings on Wednesday, Malec joyfully declared that “justice was served” in a TikTok video, expressing her overwhelming happiness and relief. Johnson was found guilty and is prohibited from contacting Malec or maintaining online accounts on TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook.

He is currently in custody and was also charged with a probation violation related to a DUI. In the weeks leading to the verdict, Malec shared her struggles with anxiety and PTSD on TikTok, describing her battle with depression. Despite the challenges, she remains determined to support others who have experienced similar situations, stating that her mission to help motivates her to overcome her difficulties. Her celebratory posts have garnered approximately 20 million likes, with supportive messages from fellow influencers and celebrities, including Kesha, who recognized Malec’s victory as a win for everyone facing domestic violence.
