Suspect Arrested for Murder of ‘American Idol’ Music Supervisor and Spouse

LOS ANGELES — A man has been charged with murder and burglary in connection with the fatal shootings of Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas Deluca, at their home in Los Angeles. Raymond Boodarian, 22, faces life imprisonment for the incidents that occurred on July 10, shortly after the couple returned from the grocery store and discovered him inside their residence. The couple, both aged 70, were found dead on July 10 in their Encino home following a welfare check requested by someone who had not heard from them for several days.

Upon arrival, police found blood at the door, prompting further investigation. Prosecutors allege that Boodarian entered the home through an unlocked door around 4 p.m. and shot the couple upon their return. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman remarked on the tragedy, stating, “In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home.” Boodarian was arrested on Tuesday, and during his court appearance on Thursday, his arraignment was postponed until August 20.

He is currently being held without bail, represented by the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. Police previously responded to the couple’s home on the day of the murder for a potential burglary report but found no evidence of a crime at that time. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking to determine if there was any connection between Boodarian and the victims.

Boodarian faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary, with additional allegations that could result in a harsher sentence. Prior to this case, he had faced charges last year for battery and making threats, which were dismissed following mental health evaluations.
