YoCrunch Yogurts Recalled Due to Potential Choking Hazard from Plastic Contaminants
Danone U.S. has announced a voluntary recall of its popular YoCrunch yogurt products following reports from consumers about the presence of plastic pieces in the dome topper. These plastic pieces pose a potential choking hazard, prompting the company’s decision to act.
The recall, which was initiated on Friday, covers all flavors and sizes of YoCrunch® products currently available in the market. This action is being coordinated in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the company, the plastic pieces in question are transparent and vary in size, with some measuring between 7 and 25 mm. These pieces may have sharp edges, posing a risk to consumers.
Importantly, it is specified that only the separately packaged dome topper is affected and that the yogurt itself remains safe for consumption. Customers who have purchased any of the recalled products are advised not to eat them and should reach out to Danone for information on obtaining a refund.
The company has stated that it is actively working with retail partners to remove the impacted products from store shelves as part of their efforts to address the issue. Danone expressed their commitment to resolving the matter swiftly so that fans of YoCrunch® can return to enjoying their products without concern.
