Today, jurors in Diddy’s trial announced they reached a verdict on four of the five criminal charges against the hip-hop mogul. Just after 4 p.m.
ET, the jury informed the court that it had come to a decision regarding the prosecution’s two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the charge of racketeering conspiracy due to “unpersuadable” opinions among the jurors.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sought suggestions from the lawyers on how to proceed. Both sides agreed to continue deliberations on the racketeering charge.
Consequently, Judge Subramanian instructed the jurors to keep discussing the matter, reminding them to be open to changing opinions and to weigh their thoughts dispassionately. Moving forward, jurors will reconvene at the federal courthouse tomorrow for further deliberations on the first charge.
We will keep you posted on significant developments. Inside the courtroom, Diddy displayed signs of anxiety this morning but also made an effort to connect with his family, interacting warmly with his mother, Janice Combs.
However, as the jury’s afternoon note was delivered, the atmosphere shifted, causing tension in the room. Diddy’s defense team formed a tight circle around him for over 10 minutes.
He seemed dejected and lost in thought while his attorney conferred with him. Analyst Danny Cevallos commented that the partial verdict was not surprising.
He anticipated a quick resolution for the other counts, noting that the racketeering conspiracy charge was complex and challenging for both jurors and attorneys to comprehend.
