NFL Legend Antonio Brown Wanted in Miami on Attempted Murder Charges
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is currently facing an attempted murder charge in Miami, as indicated by an arrest warrant issued by a judge. The warrant, which carries a bond of $10,000, was signed on Wednesday and released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. As of Friday, the Miami Police Department confirmed that Brown has not yet surrendered to authorities.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on May 16 outside an amateur boxing event in Little Haiti, Miami. Video footage circulating online seems to show Brown involved in a confrontation during which gunfire erupted. Witnesses reported hearing shots, and several identified Brown as the shooter, although he was not armed when police detained him.
In a message posted on social media the following day, Brown claimed he was the victim in the situation, stating that he was attacked by several individuals who attempted to steal his jewelry. He asserted that the police had temporarily detained him but subsequently released him after he explained his side of the story. However, after reviewing security footage, police observed Brown throwing a punch at another individual.
The video reportedly shows him taking a weapon from a security officer and advancing towards the person he had assaulted. The investigation uncovered two spent shell casings and an empty firearm holster at the scene. The alleged victim, who had visible injuries and required hospital treatment, identified Brown as the shooter, claiming he was grazed by a bullet.
Antonio Brown’s history includes multiple altercations with law enforcement throughout his career, which primarily unfolded during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His off-field controversies have included being released by the New England Patriots amid sexual assault allegations, a three-game suspension for faking his COVID-19 vaccination status while with the Bucs, and more recent legal troubles stemming from a violent confrontation with a truck driver. Brown’s NFL career culminated in dramatic fashion in late 2021 when he walked off the field mid-game, marking a controversial end to his turbulent tenure in professional football.
