Jacob Misiorowski Injured During No-Hitter in MLB Debut, Exits Game Early as Brewers Pitcher
MILWAUKEE — In a striking debut, Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski dazzled on the mound without realizing he was on the verge of a no-hitter. “I had no clue,” the 23-year-old said after Milwaukee’s 6-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Misiorowski believed a popup had landed, showcasing his modesty in the face of a remarkable performance. Though the Brewers narrowly missed achieving a no-hitter, they received positive news regarding Misiorowski’s health.
After an awkward landing at the mound in the sixth inning, he exited the game due to what the team later described as cramping in his right calf and quadriceps. Misiorowski expressed frustration about having to leave but remained optimistic about his condition, insisting, “All good.” Manager Pat Murphy noted that Misiorowski may have also turned an ankle but demonstrated impressive control and velocity throughout the game. This debut showcased his elite potential, evidenced by throwing several pitches exceeding 100 mph, notably reaching 102.2 mph, a record for Brewers starters since pitch tracking began in 2008.
Despite having control issues with four walks, he struck out five batters and generated 13 swings and misses. Misiorowski’s performance was anticipated, as he previously recorded a 103 mph pitch while with the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate. Averaging 99.1 mph on his fastballs, he threw 49 of 81 pitches for strikes, indicating his readiness for major league competition. “He was impressive every way you look at it,” Murphy remarked after the game.
As he prepares for future starts, Misiorowski’s teammates believe in his potential. Left-hander Aaron Ashby noted that he is asking the right questions and displaying the necessary preparation. With his debut behind him, Misiorowski is relieved he can now enjoy a good night’s sleep. “I haven’t slept for probably two days,” he said, looking forward to some well-deserved rest.
