Tragic Incident: 9-Year-Old Loses Life at Hersheypark

A tragic incident occurred at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Thursday night when a 9-year-old child passed away. The event took place at the water park section of the theme park, known as the Boardwalk at Hersheypark. John Lawn, the CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, confirmed the news, noting that lifeguards, first responders, and medics worked to perform lifesaving efforts on the child, who was in distress.

After being transported to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the child was sadly pronounced dead. In a heartfelt statement, Lawn expressed sorrow over the loss, stating, “Our hearts break for this child and the child’s family.” He extended deepest condolences and emphasized that, out of respect for the family’s privacy, personal details regarding the child would not be disclosed at this time.

The CEO did not share further information surrounding the circumstances of the child’s passing. Lawn underscored that the safety of guests at Hersheypark is the highest priority for the theme park. He announced that Hersheypark would conduct a thorough internal review and fully cooperate with authorities in light of the incident.

Founded in 1906, Hersheypark is a significant attraction, located roughly 95 miles west of Philadelphia and about 15 miles east of Harrisburg. It ranks as the most-visited theme park in Pennsylvania, the ninth-most-visited in North America, and the largest outside of Ohio, Florida, and California. This news is still unfolding, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
