Outside the federal courthouse in Manhattan, news crews, curious onlookers, and law enforcement were present in sizable numbers. However, what stood out was the presence of numerous influencers and content creators, who flocked to witness the trial’s conclusion. On Wednesday, Combs was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking but was found guilty of lesser charges.

The atmosphere surrounding the courthouse was electric, featuring a variety of spectacles, such as live-streamed debates, attendees dressed in Diddy-themed costumes, and celebratory antics involving the spraying of baby oil—a topic frequently discussed during the trial. Initially having 9,000 TikTok followers, she now boasts over 40,000 thanks to her daily commentary during the trial. Bracey views this moment as transformative, with numerous opportunities opening up for her music career. While many influencers sought to engage with the spectacle, some measurements of professionalism emerged.

Bracey, for example, aimed to remain respectable amidst what she described as “clout chasers.” As the trial concluded, participants displayed various reactions to Combs’ partial acquittal. Notably, one social media personality, known as Crackhead Barney, highlighted the often absurd lengths to which influencers would go for content, showcasing the chaos outside the courthouse. Others, like Wiggins, joined in on the antics, adding to the trial’s bizarre landscape.

Despite the unusual spectacle, the interactions among influencers reveal a strategic pivot toward covering more celebrity legal battles in the future, hinting at an evolving relationship between the legal system and social media dynamics. Wiggins acknowledged the rising influence of these online creators, suggesting that courts may eventually need to adapt to this new reality.
