John Goodman Reveals 200-Pound Weight Loss at the Premiere of ‘Smurfs’ Movie Event
John Goodman recently showcased his impressive 200-pound weight loss at the Los Angeles premiere of the “Smurfs” movie, where he plays the character of Papa Smurf. The former star of “The Conners,” now 73 years old, donned a stylish navy blue suit accompanied by a white shirt, black tie, and brown shoes as he posed for photographers, drawing admiration for his transformation. This public appearance comes just four months after Goodman sustained a hip injury in the U.K. while filming an upcoming project directed by Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Reports indicate that he sought medical attention and was expected to resume filming soon after the accident. Goodman’s weight loss journey has been gradual and spans over several years. In a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed he had successfully shed over 200 pounds.
Goodman initially decided to focus on his health and fitness in 2010, when he lost the first 100 pounds. He acknowledged the challenges of maintaining a sedentary lifestyle and expressed a desire to lead a more active life. To achieve his weight loss, Goodman committed to exercising six days a week and eliminated sugar from his diet, emphasizing moderation in portion sizes and resisting the temptation to overeat.
While Goodman is proud of his achievements, he remains cautious about discussing his weight loss publicly, concerned about regaining the weight. He humorously noted that he doesn’t want to serve as an example if he were to relapse into poor eating habits. Recently, he admitted feeling “lazy” since the pandemic, although he enjoys walking his dogs and boxing as enjoyable ways to stay active, even if he never felt skilled enough to spar.
