‘E! News’ Coming to a Close After 30 Years on Air

“E! News” is set to conclude its broadcast this year, marking the end of a journey that began in 1991. According to a source familiar with the situation, the cancellation was confirmed to NBC News following earlier reports from Variety and others. The final episode is scheduled to be taped on September 25, with employees informed of the decision during the morning hours.

While the broadcast version of “E! News” will go off air, the entertainment network will continue online. Other programs such as “Access Hollywood” and “Access Daily” will still be aired as scheduled. Initially launched in 1991, “E!

News” faced a temporary cancellation in 2020 due to the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. It made a comeback in 2022. E! is owned by NBCUniversal, which will transition E!

along with brands like MSNBC and CNBC to the upcoming Comcast spinoff known as Versant. Comcast recently announced its first board of directors for the planned spinoff that will encompass a variety of channels, including USA Network, Oxygen, and SYFY. NBCUniversal has not publicly commented on the cancellation. On social media, host Keltie Knight shared a video featuring a lip-sync performance to Megan Moroney’s song, reflecting on her mixed feelings.

Former host Jason Kennedy described the news as painful, expressing sympathy for the talented individuals affected by the changes in television. He highlighted the challenges faced within the ever-evolving industry. Giuliana Rancic, a long-time anchor of the show, shared her gratitude for having been part of what she called a “pop culture phenomenon.” She expressed her appreciation for the viewers who welcomed the show into their homes over two decades.
