Charges Dismissed for Doctor Accused of Misusing $28K Worth of Covid Vaccines
The federal government has dismissed charges against Dr. Michael Kirk Moore, a plastic surgeon from Midvale, Utah. He was previously accused of improperly disposing of Covid-19 vaccines, giving children saline injections instead of the actual vaccine, and selling fake vaccination cards. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the dismissal of charges via a post on the social media platform X, stating that it was done at her direction. Dr. Moore, along with other defendants, faced serious allegations and could have faced up to 35 years in prison for conspiracy to defraud the government among other charges.
These charges were initiated during Joe Biden’s presidency. Bondi expressed her belief that Dr. Moore gave his patients a choice when the federal government did not, stating he did not deserve to face such severe consequences. The motion to dismiss was filed on Saturday by Felice John Viti, the acting U.S. attorney for Utah, who remarked that the dismissal is in the interests of justice. The trial was just commencing in Salt Lake City, with jury selection starting and expected to last around 15 days.
Back on January 11, 2023, a federal grand jury had indicted Dr. Moore, his clinic, and others related to the case. The indictment claimed over $28,000 worth of government-provided Covid-19 vaccine doses were destroyed and that fake vaccination cards were issued for over 1,900 doses in exchange for cash or donations to charity. There were also allegations that some children received saline shots, allowing them to believe they were vaccinated. Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. showed his support for Dr. Moore earlier, calling him courageous.
Meanwhile, Bondi acknowledged that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene had brought the case to her attention.
